Indie authors and self-publishing companies meet in Hall 6 to discuss new developments and opportunities for self-publishers. Self-publishing has grown around the world to become a strong and vibrant community. It has become a tradition over the last three years for international indie authors and self-publishing companies to meet on the Saturday of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Review: Programme 2016

  • 10 am: AN OVERVIEW OF SELF-PUBLISHING IN 2016
    Both aspiring and professional authors will be brought up to date on contemporary concepts and issues for independent writers. A new level of capability and savvy make today's indie authors. We look at how the market has developed to understand your chances of success.

  • 11 am: HOW INDIES WORK BEST WITH INGRAM
    As a leader in global content distribution, Ingram Content Group plays a pivotal role in your success as an indie author. In this session, Robin Cutler, Director of IngramSpark, will discuss how Ingram works with publishers and authors large and small to make their titles available to Ingram’s network of 39,000 retailers and library partners. Learn how to make your book available for preorders and enhance your book’s metadata for better discoverability, all while making your book available to a global market through Ingram’s powerful distribution engine.

  • 12 pm: "INDIE" DOES NOT MEAN DOING IT YOURSELF
    The professional independent author has a team providing technical support and professional services to meet the standards of a demanding marketplace. In this session, we hear from specialists on the ways and means of finding and working with the experts you need to succeed.

  • 1 pm: MASSIVE, MOBILE, AND MONETIZED: WHY NEW AUTHORS ARE EXPLORING WATTPAD
    The Canadian-based reading and writing platform Wattpad has 45 million active participants monthly, 90 percent of them operating on mobile devices. And it recently has expanded ways for writers to make money there. Wattpad Studios Head Ashleigh Gardner and "Wattpad Star" author Jenny Rosen are our guests in this session focused on how you can make Wattpad part of your career growth.

  • 2 pm: NEW TECHNIQUES AND APPROACHES FOR READER ENGAGEMENT
    Learn what "reader analytics" can offer to authors today, as technology begins to unveil the secrets of just how your readers consume your stories. We’re opening up a whole new dimension to the indie author's close relationship with the reader.

  • 3 pm: BE PRINTED ON DEMAND TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS
    This presentation from LitFire, an author services provider with extensive interests in print-on-demand (POD), looks at its benefits and other services available now to indie authors.

  • 4 pm: SELF-PUBLISHING NETWORKING RECEPTION
    Please join us at the Publishing Perspectives Stage to network and mingle with fellow professionals in self-publishing. We will serve light refreshments.
