Recording of special interest event "What's new about Google?"

More than 1,500 visitors took part in the professional programme provided by the Frankfurt Book Fair with the support of Mediacampus Frankfurt on the topics of "Crossmedia - New Ways for Marketing and Communication", how to open up international book markets and rights and licences. The most important event was the discussion on the Google settlement which attracted many more visitors than the room could accommodate. You can look at a recording of this panel discussion here. The debate was chaired by Jens Bammel (IPA) and featured Santiago de la Mora from Google, Prof. Roland Reuss, Dr. Christian Sprang from the German Publishers & Booksellers Association - Börsenverein - and Richard Sarnoff (Random House, AAP board member).

The presentations given at the Business Breakfasts on Russia, Germany and Argentina, as well as other selected documents from the programme, can be ordered by e-mail from Iris Klose: klose@book-fair.com.

Ceremonial occasion: recording of the official opening

The main auditorium in the Congress Center was little short of packed when Börsenverein president Gottfried Honnefelder opened the Frankfurt Book Fair on 13 October with the traditional knock of his gavel - in the presence of Germany's federal chancellor Angela Merkel and China's vice-president Xi Jinping. The German chancellor called for the Guest of Honour to be met with curiosity and emphasised that China should face up to critical questions. You can follow the speeches given at the official opening ceremony here.
