21rst Abu Dhabi International Book Fair
15 to 20 March 2011
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) is the only bilingual (English/Arabic) trade and general public fair to be held in the Middle East. This makes it a central platform for interchange between the Arab and the international book industry and has secured it the status of benchmark fair for the region. In 2010, 840 exhibitors from 63 countries introduced themselves in the fully sold-out exhibition halls. Compared to the previous year, the exhibition area expanded by 22 per cent.
The market
Alongside economic policy, education policy enjoys top priority in the United Arab Emirates. With around 25 per cent of the inhabitants of the United Arab Emirates under the age of 14, the government spends a large proportion of its budget on education. The Emirates are among the countries with the highest spending power worldwide and are the biggest German export market in the region.
Your gain as a visitor
The ADIBF attracts a large number of trade visitors, there is huge interest in international contacts. The rights and licence support programme Spotlight on Rights and the translation funding programme Kalima provide important momentum to rights and licence trade throughout the entire region.
