Cluster of Excellence The Formation of Normative Orders
Rainer Forst is Professor of Political Theory and Philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt and is Joint Coordinator of the Cluster of Excellence ‘The Formation of Normative Orders’. In 2012 he was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation. His recent publications include “Justification and Critique” (2014), “The Power of Tolerance” (with Wendy Brown, 2014), and “Normativity and Power” (2017).We are living at a time of profound changes in normative orders—the relevant catchwords being migration, climate change, populism and digitalization. How can such orders respond to these challenges? And what are the implications for issues of social cohesion, the future of democracy and international cooperation?
