Keep It or Give It Back? How to handle collection items acquired in colonial contexts

How should objects acquired during colonial times be treated nowadays?

The Savoy/Sarr report has also fuelled the debate about collection items acquired in colonial contexts in Germany. Some cultural assets (the Witbooi Bible to Namibia, for example) have already been returned. How can this ongoing process be organised and who should be involved? What forms of restitution should be considered and what role can digitalisation and the creation of replicas play in it? What might future binational and international collaborations look like?
