November 23rd marks the 100th anniversary of Paul Celan's birthday, 50 years ago the poet died under tragic circumstances in Paris. He wrote one of the most famous poems of the post-war period: “Black Milk of Daybreak”. The trauma of the Holocaust became the leitmotif for the Jewish poet who was born in Chernivtsi and became popular worldwide as a poet of post-war modernism, especially through his reception in Germany.
Two well-known authors from Ukraine will read their texts and communicate with a kulturtrager Evgenia Lopata about the current situation in Ukrainian literature and about Paul Celan and his work.
The event will be held in German and Ukrainian.
