Frankfurter Buchmesse is turning 75 – and offering exhibitors the opportunity to use the anniversary programme to create their own successful event at the fair. Choose from our four  eye-catching stages to present yourself and your topics: Frankfurt Pavilion, Frankfurt Studio, Open Stage and the new International Stage.

Submit your programme idea by 11 June. The most exciting proposals will become part of our fair anniversary programme.

The topics that move us: Frankfurt Pavilion is the cultural and political stage at Frankfurter Buchmesse. Host exciting lectures and discussions on current debates – with renowned speakers from politics and society. There are no thematic requirements on the Sunday of the fair.

Frankfurt Studio

Hosting star authors and industry decision-makers, Frankfurt Studio is the platform for rousing talks on the latest topics and trends – with up to 150 viewers on site. Each event is recorded and made available in the Frankfurter Buchmesse Media Library on the day after the event, and it will remain online for one year.

International Stage

In focus on the International Stage: book markets as well as literary and cultural-political topics worldwide. Located in the foyer between the international halls 5 and 6, this stage offers you the ideal setting for an exchange with the international publishing community. At the weekend, the stage is particularly suitable for readings by authors from all regions of the world.

Overview of services and measures

Services provided by Frankfurter Buchmesse (FBM)

FBM provides the publisher with a suitable stage incl. standard technology, stage drinks, hostesses to coordinate the audience and a Frankfurter Buchmesse staff member on site. In addition, a signing table will be available at each stage for 30 minutes after your event.

FBM promotes the event within the framework of the planned communication and advertising measures at its own expense.

Depending on availability, Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH provides meeting and conference rooms for exhibitors to rent. 

Services of the publishers/partners

The publisher/partner pays a fee for the use of the venue and covers all costs in connection with the event, e.g. fees, travel and accommodation costs for the artists, authors, presenters, publishing house staff, interpreters, etc., as well as all other costs, such as tickets for the fair.

The publisher/partner shall promote the event at their own expense using all advertising media available to it (social media, print advertising media, homepage, newsletter, press, etc.).

The publisher/partner shall ensure that the authors agree to appear in reporting by television and/or radio stations and / or online media. Furthermore, the partner shall ensure that the authors agree to any live broadcast via any media channels.

Why is there a submission process?

A submission process allows us to give all exhibitors the opportunity to submit proposals to us, so that we can put together an interesting, varied and topical programme, in which all proposals are equally valued.

Who can submit proposals?

All exhibitors who has a suitable proposal can submit it. No one is automatically entitled to participate.

As a general rule, the programme team will evaluate all proposals promptly after receipt.

What criteria are used to evaluate the submissions?

The submissions will be evaluated according to the topicality of the title, relevance to communication focal points, reach of the stage guests and the fit with the target group of the respective stage.

How will I know if my submission has been accepted?

We try to get back to you or give you an answer promptly after receiving your submission. This means that you will receive a response from us by the 26rd calendar week at the latest.

What if I want to change or withdraw my submission?

What happens to submissions sent after the deadline?

Unfortunately, we cannot consider proposals that reach us after 11 June 2023 (23:59 CET).

In which languages can I submit my proposal?

Since the events can be held in German and/or in English, we ask you to submit your idea in one of these two languages.

What costs will I have to cover?

Please refer to the overview above.
Fees, travel and accommodation costs for artists, authors, presenters, publishing house staff, interpreters etc. as well as all other costs, such as tickets for the book fair, will not be covered by us.

  • Only publishers exhibiting at Frankfurter Buchmesse are entitled to participate
  • If there are several suggestions, we ask that you prioritize them
  • Please send us only fully completed forms
  • We ask for pictures as well as the translation of the texts and biographies if the feedback is positive
  • Please understand that we can only allow changes during the submission process in exceptional cases
