New programme: Frankfurt International Booksellers
Further education and networking programme for international booksellers
The programme is aimed at international booksellers who offer foreign-language titles in their bookshops and would like to gain insight into the workings of the German book market and German publishing. Some 20-25 international booksellers will be selected by Frankfurter Buchmesse to take part in an exclusive training, exchange and networking programme. The programme will be organised by Frankfurter Buchmesse with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
The application deadline is 28 September 2020.
The first version of the programme will take place virtually. Participants will join a series of online seminars between October and December this year.
Requirements for participation
- Several years of activity in the book trade
- Good command of English
- Experience in sales of foreign-language titles
- Recommendation from your own company management

Author Kamrul Hasan Shayok (Born on 6 September 1965 in Nilfamari, Bangladesh) is one of the most eminent and distinguished publishers in the publishing industry of Bangladesh. He is a renowned publishing specialist and the Managing Director of Panjeree Publications Ltd., one of the largest publishing houses of Bangladesh. He is the Vice President of Bangladesh Publishers and Book-sellers’ Association (BAPUS), former Executive Director of Academic and Creative Publishers’ Association of Bangladesh (ACPAB) and Chairman of working committee of Asia Pacific Publishers’ Association (APPA). Mr. Shayok is also regarded as one of the most important individuals in the arena of the publication sector, since he is dynamically involved with the policy making process and other related responsibilities related to the overall progressions of the sector.

Founded in 1955 in Thessaloniki in Northern Greece by the Konstantinidis brothers. It started as a general interest bookshop and developed as one of the most prominent academic bookshops in the humanity studies and a meeting place for many Greek and international academics. I am Leonard Fernandes, the co-founder of The Dogears Bookshop, in Margao, India. Although we started the bookshop in April 2016, we had launched an online bookstore, called Dogears Etc., way back in 2006. Our association with publishing goes back to CinnamonTeal Publishing, a self-publishing service we started in 2007, and the Publishing Next conference, launched in 2011, the most recent edition of which we had in September 2019.
Our bookshop is a small one with large ambitions. We have books on most genres, although we primarily have books for children and books related to our home state of Goa. Till the pandemic made it impossible to do so, our bookstore was also a community hub of sorts with social activities of every imaginable kind.
