Born in 1954, Sabine Wilharm studied Illustration at the School of Design at Hamburg Technical University. Starting in 1976, she began working for magazines and publishing houses as a freelance illustrator. Over the years, Wilharm has illustrated various children’s and adolescent’s books, including writings by James Krüss, Sabine Ludwig and the Ella series. With her recognizable art style for the German-language editions of the Harry Potter series, she strongly impacted the image of the young wizard among German audiences. For “Die Unheimlichen” (“The Gruesome Ones”), Wilharm imagined the supernatural short story and classic work of British horror literature, “The Monkey’s Paw”, as a graphic novel.
