CHEN Qiufan, also known as Stanley Chan, is an award-winning Chinese science fiction author, columnist and script writer. He was born 1981 in Shantou, Guangdong province, and graduated from Peking University with dual bachelor's degrees in literature and fine arts, and pursued graduate studies in the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) program of Hong Kong University and Tsinghua University. He later worked for Baidu and Google China. Since 1997 CHEN has published numerous short fiction works. His novel “The Waste Tide” was published 2013 (2019 in German). CHEN’s works have won several awards, including several Galaxy Awards for Chinese Science Fiction, twelve Nebula Awards for Science Fiction and Fantasy in Chinese and others. His works were translated into various languages, e.g. English, French, German, Finnish, Korean, Czech, Italian and Japanese.
