The question, if one should always try to sell translation rights directly or better work with sub-agents, is often controversially discussed in the rights community. Corinne Quentin, director at Bureau des Copyrights Français in Japan, will tackle this issue in her talk and subsequent exchange with the audience. What does she do exactly as a sub-agent, and were are the advantages for publishers? How did she get there, and what are the challenges of being a sub-agent for books that are not in English?
