Hatice Akyün moved with her family at the age of three from Anatolia to Duisburg. She authored the novel “Einmal Hans mit scharfer Soße” (One Hans with Hot Sauce), “Ali zum Dessert: Leben in einer neuen Welt” (Ali for Dessert) and “Ich küss dich, Kismet: Eine Deutsche am Bosporus” (Kisses for Kismet). As a columnist, she transferred from the “Bild am Sonntag” to the “Berliner Tagesspiegel” in 2019. She moderates events, including the Nordrhein-Westfallen state capital “Kulturfestival” in Düsseldorf, the 2019 closing ceremonies of the grant-award programme “ANKOMMER. Perspektive Deutschland” presented by the KfW Foundation, as well as a series of talks presented by the Heinrich Böll Foundation on role models, “Vorbilder im Gespräch mit Hatice Akyün”.
