Jan Fleischhauer, born in Hamburg in 1962, studied literature and philosophy. After 30 years at SPIEGEL, where he worked as Berlin office manager and business correspondent in New York, among other things, he joined "Focus" in the summer of 2019. His columns are among the most read opinion pages in Germany. In 2009 the bestseller "Unter Linken. From One Who Accidentally Became Conservative", his separation book "Alles ist besser als noch ein Tag mit dir" was published in 2017, which also made it onto the bestseller list. Fleischhauer lives in Munich.
