Petra Morsbach, born in 1956, studied in Munich and St. Petersburg. She then worked for ten years as a dramaturg and director. Since 1993 she has been living as a freelance writer near Munich. She has written several critically acclaimed novels, including "Opera Novel", "Servants of God" and "Palace of Justice". Her work has been awarded numerous scholarships and prizes, including the Jean-Paul-Preis. In 2017 she received the Roswitha Literature Prize of the city of Bad Gandersheim and the Wilhelm Raabe Prize.
