Frankfurt, 7th September 2016 – Newsweek Magazine will, for the first time, have a significant presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair (19-23 October 2016). With an exhibitor stand in Hall 6.0, staff members will be in the halls all week, distributing copies of the magazine and meeting with trade visitors.
Tom Nichols, Subscription Marketing Manager, said: “Newsweek is now available in print, as an app and we also have a dedicated EMEA website. Being at the Frankfurt Book Fair is a great opportunity for Newsweek to engage with a large international audience, all in one place. Our aim of being at the Fair is to raise awareness, give away free issues to visitors and we will have some very special subscription offers onsite too.”
Newsweek will also be hosting three must-attend events during the Book Fair, including a half-hour interview with 17 year-old Syrian refugee Nujeen Mustafa on the Open Stage in the Agora on Thursday 20th October. Associate editor, Naina Bajekal, will be discussing Nujeen’s powerful memoir, a book which is being published globally by HarperCollins in English and a further 9 different languages (including German), and which is being given a major international PR launch in Frankfurt. The book, entitled simply Nujeen, tells the story of how she – despite suffering from cerebral palsy - made an incredible journey of 3500 miles from war-torn Syria to Germany in a wheelchair in the hope of finding a better future.
Newsweek will also be ‘in conversation’ with two other authors at the Book Fair on the Thursday. Details of these talks – one other on the Open Stage in the Agora and an additional one on the Publishing Perspectives Stage in Hall 6.2 – will be released shortly. In the run-up to Frankfurt, and during the Book Fair week itself, Newsweek will also be participating in a series of social media activities aimed at highlighting their presence at the publishing industry’s most important trade fair.
Katja Böhne, Head of Press and Corporate Communications for the Frankfurt Book Fair, said: “We are so delighted that Newsweek have decided to come to the Book Fair this year, and we look forward to welcoming them to the halls in October. To have such a high-quality magazine, with a great international reputation, on board is very exciting, and I’m sure our trade visitors will be keen to engage with the activities they have planned.”
