A Soundtrack for a Book?
Bootleg Stardust is about a band in 1974; their rise to fame and the disastrous European tour that followed. Each chapter title in the book is a real song and this video shows how we created them. We wanted to be as authentic as possible so we assembled a group of top notch Canadian musicians and recorded the songs on the legendary Rolling Stones Mobile Unit (now housed at the National Music Centre in Calgary). This mobile recording studio was owned by the Rolling Stones. It was extensively used by Led Zeppelin and many other top bands. The songs for the book were then mastered at Abbey Road studios (in the very same rooms the Beatles used) and the result is a one-of-a-kind joyride of a novel (Simon & Schuster, April 2021) and a soundtrack that is utterly transporting.
