This year, Frankfurter Buchmesse will once again give away two Wildcards. One German-speaking and one international exhibitor will be awarded a free 8-square-metre stand at the world’s most important marketplace for content and ideas.
Are you a publisher, game developer, illustrator, corporate publisher, blogger, vlogger, photographer – or producer of other types of creative content? Then send us your application. - Meet customers and build awareness
The Wildcard winners
Winners of the German Wildcard 2019 were the Berlin activists behind the KIMBUK Festival and KIMI Seal. Their Children’s Book Festival and Children’s Book Seal recognise diversity and inclusion in children’s books. Of the international entries in 2019, the Canadian founders of Scenarex were the ones that convinced the jury. With Bookchain, they offer a blockchain-based method for securing the copyrights and distribution of e-books.

“We are a small team from Montreal with big ideas and even bigger ambitions and we were very happy to have been chosen as a Wildcard winner. We firmly believe in the power of the blockchain to tackle some of the challenges facing the industry! And attending Frankfurter Buchmesse was the perfect opportunity for us to share our knowledge and make contacts.”

“Participating at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2019 with the Wildcard was an incredible boon for our initiative! Thanks to the discussions with many committed people from the book industry, such as authors and illustrators, publishers and the general public, we received a great deal of impetus and made many valuable contacts, which we will continue to cultivate. We feel we have boosted attention for our project considerably. This motivates us in our jury work for the KIMI Seal and keeps us furthering the project.”

“Our travel books connect creative people from publishing with the travel blogger community. The Wildcard gave us the wonderful opportunity to make new connections in the book industry and to bring together many people from different areas.”

“UNSILO is very grateful to Frankfurter Buchmesse for awarding us a Wildcard stand. This is a great opportunity for us as this fair is undoubtedly the most important publishing event of the year. We also presented a number of strategic solutions to apply machine learning to new internal workflows.”

“The Wildcard gave us the wonderful opportunity to bring together the literature community for the Lit & Sit at the fair. It was great how Frankfurter Buchmesse made it so much easier for us to get started!”

“The Wildcard was a great chance to draw attention to our multi-media schoolbook (mBook). And with the ‘Edu-Couch’, we want to create a space to discuss digital education and provide the impetus for new innovations.”

“Winning the Wildcard was a milestone for our young company. I would even dare to venture that without the attention it garnered, things would not have moved along as quickly as they did. Within months of receiving it, we were taken over by the Ullstein Publishing Group.”
