New hall layout 2026: What to expect
2026, Frankfurter Buchmesse will further develop its hall concept—guided by what matters to audiences and the industry today. Two clear focal areas will shape the fair going forward: the public experience on the ground floor, and international business on the upper hall levels.
New visitor groups, especially young readers, are discovering Frankfurter Buchmesse with real enthusiasm. This growing interest is a win for bookselling, reading culture, and the future of the industry. All the more reason to provide clearer structures and better orientation—because audiences and professionals have different needs. Stories have their greatest impact where encounters and discovery take center stage. Business thrives on short distances and a focused atmosphere. The new hall concept is designed to create the right setting for everyone: private visitors benefit from a more concentrated programme and improved wayfinding, trade visitors from a calmer working environment, and exhibitors from more targeted visibility.

Information for ...
Trade Visitors
Business moves to the upper levels, away from the public areas. Meeting zones, networking spaces and the professional programme are located close to one another. This means you can work with fewer interruptions, spend less time walking, and connect more quickly with the right international contacts. Secure your trade visitor ticket, including RMV local public transport, and plan your appointments in advance using the exhibitor directory, hall plan and app.
General Public
The entire public programme is located on one level. The experience areas are arranged close to one another. For you as a visitor, the new hall concept mainly means shorter distances—making it easier to find the topics you care about.
You’ll now find the wide range of public-area publishers spread across all four halls, each with its own stage. That means more talks, readings and meet-ups—and more moments with your favourite authors. Quiet zones, photo spots and plenty of space will help ease crowding, so you can enjoy the fair in a more relaxed way.
Whether it’s a day ticket, a weekend pass or a family ticket: secure yours now and plan your day in advance using the hall plan, the app and the event calendar.
Exhibitors
Each area speaks to its own audience: with a reader focus, you can present yourself to the public on the ground floor, and to the international trade community in the professional setting on the upper levels. More stages and spaces put your authors and titles in the spotlight, while also giving you the calm you need for negotiations and deals.

FAQ
In 2026, the public-focused areas—with experience zones and stages—will be located on the ground floor, while business and networking will be concentrated on the upper levels.
This creates clearer zones, shortens distances, and makes it easier to find your way around.
The hall concept is being developed further to structure the fair more clearly and to guide visitor flows more effectively.
The background is changing needs on site: areas such as New Adult were previously separated from the rest of the fair, while weekends were heavily frequented—and already on Friday, a high volume of public visitors sometimes made professional meetings more difficult.
With the new structure, public-oriented offers will be bundled on the ground floor and the trade area will be concentrated on the upper levels.
This supports orientation and enables trade visitors to work in a more focused environment, with more space for confidential conversations.
For 2026, measures are planned to make orientation easier: an updated wayfinding system, digital navigation via app, and a communication campaign ahead of the fair.
On site, additional info points, trained staff, and clear signage will provide further support.
In 2026, many exhibitors will move within the venue—the change of location affects not only the Children’s and Young Adult books area, but the majority of exhibitors.
The Children’s and Young Adult books area will be located in Hall 4.0.
Visibility will be supported through targeted communication in advance, clear visitor guidance on site, and a strong stage programme.
Hall 4.0 is planned as a dedicated space with a stage, programme, and passing footfall; in addition, the Kids Conference provides room for professional exchange.

The schedule remains a trade fair from Wednesday to Sunday. The general public will be admitted from Friday at 11.00 am.
Sunday is Family Day, with a bundled programme. The children’s ticket costs € 9 (ages 7–12); children up to six years of age enter free of charge.
The aim is for public visitors to experience the fair more comfortably. To support this, the public programme will be bundled on the ground floor and visitor flows will be guided more deliberately—for example through stages, catering, and experience areas.
Networking areas, the professional programme and work centres are located on the upper levels—quieter and away from the public zones. The Publishers Rights Centre and the Literary Agents & Scouts Centre will be given greater prominence within the fair.
