Supporting those impacting the future of publishing

Frankfurter Buchmesse is delighted to announce it is sponsoring one of the key categories at this year’s FutureBook Awards. Launched by UK’s trade magazine The Bookseller eight years ago, the awards celebrate those companies and individuals who are using innovation to drive the publishing industry forward. Frankfurter Buchmesse is sponsoring the ‘FutureBook of the Year’ for the first time, a category designed to celebrate innovative books whether they are print books, audiobooks, e-books, enhanced e-books, apps, or books that are web-based. The winner will be announced at the FutureBookLive event on Friday, 30 November, in London.

The shortlist for this year’s FutureBook of the Year was announced at a special event at the book fair in October. It includes two audiobooks, as well as one print book with integrated audio. There are six projects in the running for this year’s prize, and the full shortlist is as follows:

Life on Earth (Audiobook) - written and read by David Attenborough (HarperCollins Publishers)

Only Human (Audiobook) - by Sylvain Neuvel (Penguin Random House)

The Ghostkeeper's Journal and Field Guide - by Japhet Asher (Carlton Books)

The Tallowmere Annual - by Keaton Henson (Faber Music)

The Real Thing (a bundle of short love stories by Amazon Publishing)

WatAdventure in Australia - by Richard David Lawman and Katie Williams (WatAdventure)

Matthäus Cygan, Director Business Development Trade International at Frankfurter Buchmesse, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the FutureBook Awards again in 2018. It is as important as ever to be championing innovation in our industry, and the six titles on the shortlist for FutureBook of the Year are all worthy contenders. Each project is very different and we are all excited to see who will be crowned the winner at the end of the month.”
