The two entities will create new content related platforms to start in the Arab

Frankfurt, 20 October 2016 – The Frankfurter Buchmesse (19-23 October 2016) and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) are planning a strategic partnership for the development of media and content-related projects and events which will start in Dubai and the wider Arab region, as a first step, and will then expand globally. In this regard, a Letter of Intent has been signed on Tuesday, 18 October at THE MARKETS – Global Publishing Summit by His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and Juergen Boos, director of Frankfurter Buchmesse.

The aim of this partnership is to create conventions and interdisciplinary business platforms dedicated to the current and future challenges of the new creative ecosystem. By bringing together global players from all Creative Industries, the events provide a comprehensive overview of the developments in the content market. The global partnership facilitates knowledge exchange and showcases the potential of cooperation across industries and geographies.

“Book fairs, film festivals, games, and art or technology shows – there a thousand of industry events taking place all over the world. We would like to establish a global marketplace that meets the needs of the new creative ecosystem by bringing together all Creative Industries, including media, technology, design and art, from all over the world on an equal footing to discover the future of the (united) content business,“ said Juergen Boos during the signing ceremony. “In cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, the Frankfurt Book Fair would like to close this gap”.

H.E Jamal bin Huwaireb said: “The partnership offers a perfect opportunity to present the potential and dynamics of the Creative Industries in the Arab world and to connect it to the global content business. As one of the initiators we are delighted to be associated with this new partnership and to be driving this exciting project.”

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation in Dubai was established in 2007 to support knowledge and development for youth in the Arab region and the rest of the world.
