Author Talk

Algerian writer Said Khatibi and German writer Svenja Leiber have their own relationship to the desert, which they depict in their texts. In addition to human life, sun and sand, the hidden uncanny, even the deadly, is part of the image of the desert for Khatibi and Leiber.

Svenja Leiber, who was born in Hamburg in 1975 and spent several years in Saudi Arabia, wrote her novel \"Dust\" in 2018. Said Khatibi, was born in Bou Saada / Algeria in 1984, lives in Slovenia. He wrote his crime novel \"The End of the Desert\" in 2022, for which he received the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Literary Award for Young Authors.

In their texts, Svenja Leiber and Said Khatibi describe individual fates, the race for clarification, and life and survival. Both take us into the desert, on a voyage of discovery of what is hidden in the human being.

In cooperation with the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.
