German Children's Literature Award 2023

The award presentation ceremony of the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis 2023 (German Childrenʼs Literature Award 2023) at the Frankfurt Book Fair will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023. 

We will announce the prizewinners of this year’s awards as selected by the jury of critics and the young adult jury, as well as the recipients of the Special Awards, given for the complete works of a German author and a German “New Talent”.

The German Children's Literature Award is a state-sponsored prize. It is funded by the German federal ministry for family affairs, senior citizens, women and youth. It has been awarded annually since 1956. It carries a value of 72.000 Euros.

A livestream will be available at www.jugendliteratur.org. English translation will be provided.
