A talk with Iva Pezuashvili about challenges and opportunities

A discussion about challenges and opportunities of literary translations from small languages:

Iva Pezuashvili is a contemporary Georgian writer and screenwriter and the past president of Pen Georgia. With his last novel, A GARBAGE CHUTE, Iva won the European Union Prize for Literature 2022, as well as other literary awards, including the Tsinandali Award for best prose, and in 2021 he won the Special Jury Prize of the SABA award. With the last novel - Mascarapone, he won the SABA Award for Best Novel of the Year in 2023.

Gvantsa Jobava (Georgia) is a Vice President at International Publishers Association IPA and the head of international Affairs at Intelekti Publishing, one of the biggest publishing houses in Georgia, previously — chairperson of the Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association and the head of the publishing program for Georgia’s activities as guest of honor at the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair. In 2013-2022 she was the organizer of Tbilisi International Book Festival. She is a poet and a translator.
