The popular Georgian author Tamta Melashvili has succeeded in creating an astonishing work about love and sexuality in the closed province of Georgia.

Reading from \"Amsel, Amsel, Brombeerbusch\" by Katharina von Schoenaich. Followed by a discussion with the author  (English/German). Moderation: Werner van Gent

About the book:

In her new novel, Tamta Melashvili tells the story of a woman from a provincial Georgian village. After a brush with death, 48-year-old Eter experiences an astonishing rebirth. She discovers pleasure in her body and love - and in the process comes into conflict with the strict moral guidelines of her village. With sensitive language, the author traces this woman's path, which is marked by an irrepressible will for independence.

„Amsel, Amsel, Brombeerbusch“ (\"Blackbird, Blackbird Blackberry“) not only reflects the process of self-discovery, but also sheds light on society's unspoken expectations of women beyond forty. Melashvili inevitably draws her readers into the spell of her narrative with a beautiful, serene writing style.

The book is published almost simultaneously with the film adaptation by Elene Naveriani !
