Registration for the Publishers Rights Corner is still open

Frankfurt, 7 March 2017 – The Literary Agents & Scouts Centre at the Frankfurter Buchmesse reports continued growth, already being sold out for October: 301 agents (300 in 2016) have booked 480 tables (460 in 2016). “For several years now we’ve observed that agencies are tending to bring more personnel to Frankfurt, so they need more than one table”, says Riky Stock, who has been the director of the LitAg since 2013. To meet this demand, 20 more tables than last year are being set up in the LitAg centre. “The fact that the LitAg has been sold out so early shows that e-mail exchanges and phone calls cannot replace face-to-face conversations, meeting and reconnecting, or chance encounters the fair offers.” Traditionally, the LitAg centre has always been open the day before the Frankfurter Buchmesse. Publishers Rights Corner will once again take place on the Tuesday before the fair

In 2016, agents and editors were not the only busy bees in Hall 6.3 on the Tuesday before the fair. They were joined by numerous international rights managers from Spanish, German, Icelandic, British and American publishing companies, who set up meetings at the Publishers Rights Corner (PRC), which was created in 2016 at the request of many customers. “It was so good to have meetings all day without worrying about seats, or not finding your meetings… It was definitely my most productive Tuesday since I’ve been attending the fair!”, says Szilvia Molnar, Foreign Rights Manager of the New York literary agency Sterling Lord Literistic.

The PRC brings together rights and licensing managers from publishing houses and agencies in one place, making it easier for them to make appointments with international editors and publishers. To register for the Publishers Rights Corner please contact Riky Stock (rikystock@book-fair.com(opens in a new window)). The Early Bird Discount (20 per cent) is available till 31 March 2017. Since personal contacts in the rights and licensing sector are crucial for business success, the New York office of the Frankfurter Buchmesse is planning a meeting for German and American rights managers and editors in New York in late 2017. The target group are publishing people from the fields of children’s and young adult books as well as fiction. Please send inquiries to Riky Stock.
