I am happy about the current discussions on children’s books, graphic novels, humanities, poetry and literature and am looking forward to those to come.”
Juergen Boos: “The French-speaking contemporary literature has many origins. In a few months, we will welcome authors in Frankfurt who call different parts of the world their home. They were born in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and North America. However, they all have found their ‘intellectual home’ within the French language. At the Frankfurter Buchmesse we will take part in a vivid exchange that will move beyond borders.”
France’s presentation as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse (11-15 October 2017) is going to be the highlight of the French cultural year, which extends all over Germany with a rich and interdisciplinary programme of events organised by the Institut français Germany. In 2017, more than 450 events will take place under the label “Francfort en français / Frankfurt in French”. They include theatre, contemporary music, visual arts, cinema, literary meetings and many more, with 250 French-speaking artists and 75 authors. Prior to the Frankfurter Buchmesse, cultural highlights can be expected, such as the cooperation between the crime literature festival Quai du Polar Lyon and the Leipzig Book Fair, as well as the authors’ “Tour d’Allemagne“, beginning in Düsseldorf, where also the Tour de France has its starting point.
