Frankfurt, 10 October 2018 - This evening, in a colourful ceremony, the international “Global Illustration Award” (GIA) was presented for the third time at the Frankfurter Buchmesse. The award ceremony was held in the new Frankfurt Pavilion and included a vibrant programme with well-known illustrators, including Kitty Crowther, Květa Pacovská and Martin Salisbury.

The Global Illustration Awards were presented in five categories:
“Book Illustration”, “Original Unpublished Children’s Picture Book Project”, “Advertising and Editorial Illustration”, “Scientific Illustration” and “Theme Illustration”. Out of 8,000 illustrations, in each category, two winners received the “Excellence Award” and one “Gold Award”. In addition, one “Grand Award” winner was honoured.
This year’s theme for the category “Theme Illustration” was “Signs & Civilisation”. It puts the spotlight on central aspects of Georgia’s Guest of Honour presentation at the Frankfurter Buchmesse, the motto for which is “Georgia – Made by Characters”.
