IPR License strengthens its international network by signing S. Fischer publishing houses
Frankfurt, 17 December 2018 – IPR License, the marketplace to buy and sell rights within the publishing industry worldwide, owned by Frankfurter Buchmesse, has today announced it has further strengthened its international network by signing the renowned German publishing houses of S. Fischer.
The S. Fischer publishing houses belong to the Holtzbrinck publishing group. In 1886 Samuel Fischer founded his publishing house, which quickly became one of the most renowned literary houses with, amongst others, such prominent authors as Thomas Mann, whose works still belong to the publishing programme to this day. The S. Fischer publishers are based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and publish a wide range of titles under several imprints - from contemporary literature to entertaining fiction, sophisticated and popular non-fiction books to children's and YA books.
Juergen Boos, Director of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, said: “The signing of the S. Fischer publishers comes at an important and exciting stage for our colleagues at IPR. At a time when there is much discussion around the use of technology and automation to make rights deals quicker and more efficient, we are delighted that such high-profile publishers have decided to showcase their titles on the IPR platform. We look forward to a fruitful and long-term relationship, and to welcoming other publishers to the network in due course.”
Katharina Winter, Legal Counsel and Head of Rights Department S. Fischer Verlage, said: "We want high international visibility for our authors' works plus further exposure including the use of single images, quotes and other requests. Furthermore, the system needs to be fast and user-friendly, and the IPR License platform helps us with all these aims, so we're excited to have our titles included on there."
