Call for Ideas – Publishers and partners are invited to help shape the Frankfurter Buchmesse virtual programme | Ideas can be submitted via www.bookfest.de/en/digital until 15 July 2020 | Participation is free

Margaret Atwood, Ken Follett, Maja Lunde, Jo Nesbø, Elif Shafak, Colson Whitehead, Paul Beatty, Dmitry Glukhovsky, Cixin Liu, Martin Suter, Meg Wolitzer and Juli Zeh – these writers have all been guests of the Frankfurter Buchmesse BOOKFEST programme. Every year, these events offer special inspiration to the Book Fair public. In 2020, Frankfurter Buchmesse BOOKFEST (14-18 October 2020) will once again focus on authors, books and topics as well as on the industry as a whole and will provide a way to access the fair from anywhere in the world.

The BOOKFEST digital festival will take place on Saturday, 17 October 2020. With a curated programme spread out across several digital stages, it will provide far-reaching points of inspiration. In order to ensure a continuous moderation and focus of the audience, the BOOKFEST digital will take place on this day exclusively.

All publishers and partners are invited to submit their authors and topics for BOOKFEST digital by 15 July 2020. We are looking for authors’ suggestions and ideas for exclusive virtual encounters, exciting interviews, relevant discussions, interesting productions, international entertainment and much more.

The digital culture festival will present an approximately 16-hour programme – across several digital stages – featuring international highlights. The programme slots are limited to 10 or 20 minutes each and can comprise various formats: live talks in a studio or at a special location, connection to a live event, pre-produced content, exclusive meet & greets, deep dives, etc. The events will be broadcasted on the Frankfurter Buchmesse channels such as website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Participation
Participation is free of charge for exhibitors and publishers. The programme team will evaluate the proposals received in order to curate a programme with a focus on diversity. The events will be held in German or English, so ideas can be submitted in either language. The participation form for submissions to BOOKFEST digital is available here: www.bookfest.de/en/digital

BOOKFEST city, which will take place from 14 to 18 October 2020 at various locations in Frankfurt, is still being curated through the current Call for Participation (information at www.bookfest.de/en/city). The Call for Ideas is limited to formats for the virtual programme.
BOOKFEST digital is part of a comprehensive digital strategy for Frankfurter Buchmesse 2020, which will be unveiled soon.
