As part of the state visit of Their Majesties the Spanish Royal Couple, Juergen Boos, Director and Managing Director of Frankfurter Buchemsse, was awarded the "Encomienda de Número de la Orden de Isabel la Católica". The reason behind him receiving this is his commitment to Spanish literature and culture, as well as his promotion of German-Spanish relations.

The Order of Isabel la Católica is awarded for services to the arts and sciences in Spain. It was established by King Ferdinand VII on March 24 1815, under the name the Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic. The order class Encomienda de Numero denotes the rank of Grand Officer.

About Spain's Guest of Honour appearance at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022

Since 1976, Guests of Honour and guest regions have presented themselves at the Frankfurter Buchmesse; since 1988, there has been an annual guest country presentation, which is largely organized and financed by the Guests of Honour themselves.

Under the motto "Sparkling Creativity", the Guest Country Spain presented developments and trends in literary and cultural life, especially current literature and creative industries. Spain offers a diverse literature and a rich culture. At the same time, this is characterized by a large number of regional languages, including Catalan, Galician and Basque, each of which has its own literature.
