Frankfurter Buchmesse invites international publishing professionals to intensive training and networking programmes to mark #fbm24.

 

The call for applications for the three international fellowship and grant programmes for this year's Frankfurter Buchmesse (16-20 October 2024) is now open. Participants can expect a professional training and networking programme in the run-up to and during the fair, organised by Frankfurter Buchmesse with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office.

 

Frankfurt Fellowship Programme for young publishing professionals
The traditional Frankfurt Fellowship Programme is aimed at publishers, editors, rights managers and literary agents from all over the world. Since its foundation in 1998, the programme has created a strong international network. The target group is primarily those who have only been working in publishing for a few years. The Frankfurt Fellowship programme includes visits to publishing houses, agencies and bookshops, market presentations and matchmaking events in Frankfurt and Berlin.

Period: 6-20 October 2024
Target group: younger publishers, editors, rights managers and literary agents from all over the world with approx. 3 years of professional experience or more
Cost coverage: Travel and accommodation within Germany, participation in the training programme in Berlin and Frankfurt, contribution towards catering costs

Frankfurt Invitation Programme for countries with a developing book industry
The Frankfurt Invitation Programme enables publishers from countries with a developing book industry to participate in Frankfurter Buchmesse, the largest international industry gathering and trading centre for licences. Independent publishers from Africa, Asia, the Arab world, Latin America and the Caribbean are invited so that they can form networks to establish themselves on the international book market. In the run-up to the book fair in Frankfurt, the publishers prepare intensively for their appearance at the fair, for example through online events. The stay in Frankfurt starts with a three-day specialist programme on topics such as rights and licences. During the days of the fair, the focus will be on matchmaking events.

Special Programme Ukraine and neighbouring countries
The Special Programme for publishers from Ukraine and neighbouring countries is entering its third round this year. Market presentations, matchmaking events and numerous networking opportunities will start online and culminate at Frankfurter Buchmesse. The programme is being developed in cooperation with the International Book Arsenal Festival and the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.

Period: 13-19 October 2024
Target group: Publishers, editors, rights managers and literary agents from Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Hungary
Costs covered: accommodation and a contribution towards catering in Frankfurt. Participants have the opportunity to apply for a travel allowance.

The Goldschmidt+ programme for young literary translators will take place in various modules in the run-up to Frankfurter Buchmesse (May, September and October 2024). The Paris-Frankfurt Fellowship will take place from 10-27 June 2024.
