The Governor General of Canada to open Frankfurter Buchmesse

The Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon, will travel to Frankfurt from 19 to 21 October 2021, where she will represent Canada, the Guest of Honour at this year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse (20-24 October 2021).The Governor General will speak at the opening ceremony and the opening of the Canadian pavilion. This will be Her Excellency’s first visit abroad since being installed as the 30th Governor General of Canada on July 26, 2021.

Die 73. Frankfurter Buchmesse (20.-24. Oktober 2021) setzte für die Kulturbranche ein wichtiges Zeichen in der Pandemie. Dank eines umfangreichen Hygienekonzeptes konnte sich das Fach- und das Privatpublikum unter dem Motto “Re:connect” wieder sicher begegnen. 36.000 Fachbesucher*innen aus 105 Ländern und 37.500 Leser*innen aus 85 Ländern hat die Frankfurter Buchmesse 2021 als die erste große Präsenzveranstaltungen der internationalen Buchbranche erreicht. Insgesamt 2013 Unternehmen aus 80 Ländern präsentierten sich in den Hallen, im LitAg, an den neuen Workstations oder als digitale Aussteller*innen im Netz. Insgesamt 2.500 Medienvertreter*innen aus 39 Ländern waren für die diesjährige Frankfurter Buchmesse akkreditiert.
