In its anniversary year, the 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse (18–22 October 2023) will offer a high-profile programme of cultural and political events – as a forum for literature and social debate.

The world of audiobooks, podcasts and smart speakers will be represented at this year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse with its own, newly created thematic area and programme: Frankfurt Audio.

Prizes in five categories and a “Grand Award” were presented

This year’s Weltempfang – Frankfurter Buchmesse’s centre for politics, literature and translation – is dedicated to the topic “Europe – Connecting Cultures”. The programme includes highly topical issues, such as the role of culture, literature and politics in the coronavirus crisis, and debates about displacement, migration and racism. The Weltempfang events will be broadcast each day of the fair at www.buchmesse.de/weltempfang and on Frankfurter Buchmesse's YouTube channel. The opening event will take place on Wednesday, 14 October at 5.30 pm, on the ARD Book Fair Stage in the Festhalle.

New African stage at Frankfurter Buchmesse

From 12 to 15 November 2016 Germany participated as Guest of Honour at the 36th International Book Fair in Istanbul. Over four days, 35 events took place at the German stand.

“German Stories” will be the theme of Germany’s presentation at the Taipei International Book Exhibition from 12 to 17 February 2019.
