Day three of the Frankfurt Book Fair is approaching and brings along numerous exciting highlights and events.

Like no other happening in the publishing industry, Frankfurter Buchmesse leads the way in activating global networks, opening up future markets and putting both sector-specific and socio-political issues on the agenda. That will be truer than ever in 2020, the year of corona, as demonstrated by the fair’s thousands of digital exhibitors from approximately 85 countries (as of 20 September 2020). TAlong with this, the book fair will offer ca. 70 hours of professional programme with acclaimed guests, including James Daunt, Ananth Padmanabhan and Jenny Fry and will be a celebration of literature online and in Frankfurt with Karin Slaughter, Elizabeth Gilbert, Irvine Welsh and many more. Annette Hess, along with seven other authors, will travel to Turin for the 32nd Salone Internazionale del Libro (9-13 May) to present her novel "Deutsches Haus", the rights of which have already been sold in over 20 countries. In the interview she talks about the reappraisal of one's own history, the challenge of an adequate translation, and the impact of her book abroad.

Booksellers from all over the world can now apply to participate in the new digital programme Frankfurt International Booksellers offered by Frankfurter Buchmesse (14–18 October 2020). Organised by Frankfurter Buchmesse with financial support from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the programme is designed for booksellers who stock foreign-language titles in their bookshops. Applications being accepted until 28 September 2020.

The international educational sector will be making an innovative, multifaceted and digital appearance under the title “World of Learning".

At an exclusive "live" event Dan Brown will present his new thriller Origin on Saturday, 14 October 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Live at last: visitors to Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022 will experience acclaimed authors, inspiring talks and stimulating discussions live on the main stage in the Congress Center, in the Frankfurt Studio, in the Frankfurt Pavilion and, during the evening, at BOOKFEST city events throughout Frankfurt.

Today at 5 p.m. (MESZ), Mr. Juergen Boos, the President and CEO of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, will be honoured with the Vigdís Prize 2022 – an international award for outstanding contributions to world languages and cultures.

Sustainability, translation and audiobooks on the Spanish-language market: the CONTEC meeting was held in Mexico City at the beginning of the July to share experiences and reflections from the context of Frankfurter Buchmesse with the Latin American region. At the lectures, discussion panels and workshops, 33 experts from different countries discussed. Journalist América Gutiérrez Espinosa summarised her findings for us.

At today’s press conference concerning France’s participation as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse details about the programme were revealed.

At a press conference on 4 June in Frankfurt, the Guest of Honour Norway presented its extensive cultural programme, the concept for the Guest of Honour Pavilion and the list of authors who will attend the fair.

Germany is Guest of Honour at the International Book Fair in Istanbul

German-language literature is Guest of Honour at Foire du Livre in Brussels: The Guest of Honour invites visitors to a literary adventure dedicated to “Wanderlust”. The Public programme features Bernhard Schlink, Nino Haratischwili, Daniel Kehlmann, War and Peas, and many more, together with Antoine Wauters, Vanessa Springora and Alix Garin, among others.
