Chamisso - After Adelbert is forced to flee with his parents from the French Revolution, he begins a lifelong journey through the turmoil of all the social, intellectual and geographical worlds of his time. He becomes a page at the Prussian court, enlists as a soldier, befriends the publisher Eduard Hitzig, spends a summer as Madame de Staël's lover on Lake Geneva while fleeing from Napoleon's troops, unexpectedly achieves fame through his story Peter Schlemihl's Wondrous Tale, travels the entire globe on an expedition ship, almost loses himself in Hawaii, and finally makes a name for himself as a botanist at Berlin University. The fascinating life story of the writer, scientist and world traveler Adelbert von Chamisso, an alert, incorruptible and sensitive spirit of the 19th century, is told.
