Najat El Hachmi: »On Monday they will love us«

A young woman of Moroccan descent grows up in the outskirts of Barcelona. Amidst the religious and cultural constraints of her Muslim environment, she longs for freedom.

Everything begins on the day when she meets a girl who faces the challenges of her life as a woman with self-confidence and determination. Together with her new friend, she tries to escape social control and the lack of prospects. But will they succeed in liberating themselves?

In her novel, Najat El Hachmi gives intense insights into the experiences of young women from immigrant families who experience oppression and discrimination because of their gender, social class and origin - and shows how they fight for their freedom.
