Bassam Chebaro was born on 15 January 1943, Beirut. He graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1963 specializing in Business Administration. He is the founder and owner of several institutions that cater to the book industry. In 1973 he founded the Mediterranean Press, in 1979 Abjad Graphics - Graphic Design and Prepress activities. In 1987 Chebaro founded the Arab Scientific Publishers Inc. for Arabic and translated literary & scientific books. After which in 1992 he founded Arabization and Software Center for translation of technical international publications into Arabic. With the advancement of technology and digital world, Chebaro founded in 1998 NWF.com an Online Bookstore (for Arabic paper print & digital) carrying over 500,000 titles. And in 2008 he co-founded Thaqafa for Publishing & Distribution, a UAE publishing company to serve writers and books. Recently, in 2013 he opened another branch for Arab Scientific Publishers in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia. His last investment was in a sister Translation Company (Chinese to Arabic) named “Mamoun” based in Beijing, China.
