Kirsten-Boie

Kirsten Boie

Kirsten Boie, born in Hamburg in 1950, is one of the most successful authors of books for children and young people in Germany. Trained as a teacher and with a doctorate in literature, she had to give up her job at school after the adoption of her first child, so she started writing. She published her first book in 1985: "Paule ist ein Glücksgriff" became a huge success and made it onto the shortlist for the German Youth Literature Prize straight away. To date, Kirsten Boie has published over 100 picture books, children's books and books for young people, which have been translated into many languages. Her most successful series, all three of which have been made into films, include "Wir Kinder aus dem Möwenweg", "Der kleine Ritter Trenk" and "King-Kong".
In addition to her work as a writer, Boie is active in reading promotion. She gives lectures and writes essays on the subject of "children's and youth literature".
