Presentation of the highly acclaimed anthology of Slovenian poetry of the 20th and 21st centuries, published in 2023 by C. Hanser Verlag in cooperation with the German Academy for Language and Literature.

Poetry is considered to be the backbone of Slovenian literature and identity. Under the title Mein Nachbar auf der Wolke, the largest selection of Slovenian poetry to date was published in German translation, edited by Matthias Göritz, Amalija Maček, and Aleš Šteger, by C. Hanser Verlag 2023 in cooperation with the German Academy for Language and Literature. Supported by Traduki, JAK and SKICA Berlin. The anthology presents 80 Slovenian poets in already existing or new translations. In addition to the deceased iconic poets such as Srečko Kosovel, Edvard Kocbek, or Dane Zajc, the anthology also presents many contemporary authors, among them Ana Pepelnik, Stanka Hrastelj, Ifigenija Simonović, and Boris A. Novak, who will read their poems at this event. Some of them have already presented themselves to German-speaking audiences as part of the poetry tour in June 2023 – which is the subject of the artistic documentary by composer, double bassist, and filmmaker Tomaž Grom, which will be shown for the first time at this event. The poet, singer, and head of translation projects of TOLEDO at the LCB Aurélie Maurin set some of the poems from the anthology to music and will perform them at the event. The event will be hosted by poet and editor Piero Salabè and will be held in German.
