Two great poets, Boris A. Novak and Jan Wagner, in conversation.
One of the most important contemporary Slovenian poets, Boris A. Novak, who has captured the memories of his ancestors and friends in the three-volume epic poem Vrata nepovrata on 2300 pages, is a professor of comparative literature and literary theory specialising in metrics and French poetry. Novak is also an excellent translator and will be discussing the significance of form and rhyme, the reinterpretation of traditional metrical forms for writing, with the well-known poet Jan Wagner, who is also a translator of poetry into Slovenian. Wagner has received the Georg Büchner Prize and the The Leipzig Book Fair Prize, to name only a few. The conversation will be hosted in German by Tanja Petrič.
