Durs Grünbein, Aleš Šteger und Matthias Göritz

When you read a book, you hear and see more comprehensively, learn new, and above all, more words, and therefore think more and deeper about things. What sounds like an old-fashioned, creaky defense of reading and the cultural asset of books in the age of the visual and digital is actually a reminder of the best tool we have in our arsenal of thinking. Texts read on paper are easier to understand than those read on screens. All of this has been scientifically researched and proven. And this is not only true for non-fiction texts and information. Especially when we read literature, it helps us to understand others in their particularity. Reading teaches empathy.

With their conversation at the German National Library, the three authors Durs Grünbein, Aleš Šteger and Matthias Göritz will open the debate on the book and reading as a form of cognition and experience, which is at the center of Slovenia's Guest of Honour appearance at the Frankfurt Bookfair under the motto \"Honeycombs of Words\".

The event will be held in German.

An event organised by Guest of Honour 2023 Slovenia and the German National Library as part of BOOKFEST.
