In connection with Germany's Guest of Honour appearance in Indonesia in November 2021, Frankfurter Buchmesse is offering a cross-sector, three-city tour to Jakarta (Indonesia), Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Representatives of the creative industry, intellectual property owners, and start-ups in German-speaking countries have applied to join this exclusive trip as delegates. Experts from the fields of publishing – including audiobooks, film, animation, VR, games, and e-sports – are particularly encouraged to apply.

During the trip, publishers and creative entrepreneurs will gain insight into the local scenes of three economic centres in Southeast Asia and get the chance to explore opportunities for partnerships. Frankfurter Buchmesse is organising the trip in close coordination with local partners in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia with the financial support of Germany’s Federal Foreign Office. The funding will cover participants' travel costs from Germany to Southeast Asia, as well as a large proportion of expenses for local accommodation and travel. The programme will be held in English. In case of cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic, an alternative will be offered.

The programme for creative professionals based in German-speaking countries includes:

  • A tour of the three cities: Jakarta, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur
  • Participation and active involvement in the Jakarta Content Week
  • Meetings with ministries and institutions in the creative sector
  • Get-togethers and product pitches
