The Guest of Honour 2022 will highlight recent developments and current trends in the country's literary and cultural life on an international stage at Frankfurter Buchmesse, making the current literary and creative industries known internationally.

Guest of Honour 2023: Slovenia
This young Central European country will be the focus of Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2023. Although it became a sovereign state late in life, its literary tradition goes back centuries. Literary life in Slovenia has had a major influence not only on the country's culture but also on its history. Today the Slovenian literary scene is very lively and radiates far beyond the country's borders. Slovenia also has pioneering achievements in the fields of art and electronic music.
We look forward to Slovenian discoveries!

Guest of Honour 2024: Italy
At Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024, everything will revolve around Italy's rich culture and literature. Italian literature has produced five Nobel Prize winners: from Giosuè Carducci in 1906 to Dario Fo in 1997. And Italian authors such as Paolo Giordano, Susanna Tamaro and Elena Ferrante are currently held in high esteem worldwide. Benvenuta, Italia! We are very much looking forward to seeing you.
