Categories and prize money
As in the years before, there will be five categories in this competition: book illustration, original unpublished children’s picture book project, advertising & editorial illustration, scientific illustration, and theme illustration. The topic of this year’s theme illustration category is “Signs & Civilisation”, highlighting central aspects of the Guest of Honour presentation “Georgia – Made by Characters” at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2018.
For these five categories, around 150 entries will be selected to qualify for the longlist. One Grand Award winner is to receive 6,000 euros, the five Gold Award winners will each receive 2,000 euros and the ten Excellence Award winners 1,000 euros each. The winners will be awarded a trophy and a certificate issued by the organising committee. All entries selected for the final round will be included in a print publication entitled “Global Illustration Award 2018” and thereby promoted globally. The Global Illustration Award ceremony will be held at Frankfurter Buchmesse on 10 October 2018.
