Game developers, publishers, edtech start-ups and many others can apply for a free stand until 31 May 2019

Are you feeling creative? For the fifth year in a row, Frankfurter Buchmesse (16-20 October 2019) is awarding its Wild Card. Whoever can provide the best, most imaginitive answers to three questions about their exhibition concept will win a grand prize: an 8-sqm stand at the world’s biggest fair for content. Since 930+ applications from more than 20 countries have been received over the last four years, two Wild Cards will be awarded again in 2019: one for a German exhibitor and another Wild Card for an international applicant.

In addition to traditional publishers such as publishing houses, all producers of creative content may submit applications: authors, illustrators, game developers, corporate publishers, vloggers, bloggers, bookstagrammers, photographers, content distributors, content developers and many others.

The deadline to apply is 31 May 2019.

The winners of past Wild Cards include travel bloggers & YouTube publishers, edtech providers, literary communities and AI publishers. Here is what they have to say:

“UNSILO is very grateful to Frankfurter Buchmesse for awarding us a Wild Card stand. We capitalised on being at, hands down, the most important publishing fair of the year. We presented a series of strategic solutions there to use machine learning for new internal workflows.”
(Michael Upshall, Head of Sales & Business Development at UNSILO, winner of the Wild Card 2018 for an international exhibitor)

“With our travel books, we bring together creative minds from the travel-blog and publishing worlds. The Wild Card gave us an amazing opportunity to make new contacts in the book sector and to bring together all these people from completely different spheres.”
(Marianna Hillmer and Johannes Klaus, Managing Publishers at Reisedepeschen, winner of the Wild Card 2018 for a German exhibitor)

“The Wild Card gave us a great opportunity to bring together the literary community at the book fair’s Lit & Sit. It’s fantastic that Frankfurter Buchmesse helped us to get off to a start like this.”
(Dörte Brilling and Birgit Kidd of litnity, winner of the Wild Card 2017)

“The Wild Card was a great opportunity to call attention to our multimedia textbook (mBook). Moreover, with the ‘Edu Couch’ we were able to create a space for the topic of digital education, helping inspire new ideas.”
(Benjamin Heinz, CMO of the Institut für digitales Lernen [Institute for Digital Learning], winner of the Wild Card 2016).

“Winning the Wild Card was a milestone in our company’s brief history. I’d even venture to say that things never would have moved forward as quickly without the attention it brought us: Just a few months later we were taken over by Ullstein Buchverlage GmbH.”
(Felix Plötz of Plötz & Betzholz Verlag, winner of the Wild Card 2015)
