Frankfurter Buchmesse is celebrating its 75th edition this year. Together with twelve other publishers, Piper Verlag is participating for the 75th time without missing a Frankfurt Book Fair as an exhibitor. Piper publisher Felicitas von Lovenberg on personal memories and thoughts on the future tasks of Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Booksellers from all over the world can now apply to participate in the new digital programme Frankfurt International Booksellers offered by Frankfurter Buchmesse (14–18 October 2020). Organised by Frankfurter Buchmesse with financial support from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the programme is designed for booksellers who stock foreign-language titles in their bookshops. Applications being accepted until 28 September 2020.

Both belong to the long-established, family-run Beltz publishing group, one of the most important publishers of educational and psychology books in Germany.

The Guest of Honour for Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026 has now been decided: the Czech Republic will take on the showcased role at the 78th book fair (7–11 October 2026). Frankfurter Buchmesse Director Juergen Boos and Czech Minister of Culture Martin Baxa signed the official agreement at a ceremony held today in Prague, the Czech capital.

During a festive ceremony, Flanders and the Netherlands, Guest of Honour of the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2016, handed over the ‘GuestScroll’ to the 2017 Guest of Honour, France.

The Brazilian poetry subscription platform ‘Círculo de Poemas’ has won the Aficionado Award 2024. The Aficionado Award is the first international award to promote individuals, organisations and initiatives that are making a lasting difference in the publishing industry.

In its fifth year this event from May 31 - June 1, focusses on transmedia and cross-cultural storytelling.

Frankfurter Buchmesse is a meeting place for publishers, authors, literature and culture fans and personalities from politics and culture from all over the world.

Under the title "Large Houses, Small Houses - Excellent Architecture in Hessen 2018-2023", ten buildings will be awarded the "Martin Elsaesser Plaque" in 2023. Among them is the Frankfurt Pavilion, the cultural and political stage of Frankfurter Buchmesse on the Agora.

Audio is one of the steadily growing segments of the publishing industry. With a dedicated audio area, a live podcast from the fair and event highlights for audio professionals and audiobook and podcast fans, Frankfurter Buchmesse (19-23 October 2022) shines a spotlight on audio content.

Live at last: visitors to Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022 will experience acclaimed authors, inspiring talks and stimulating discussions live on the main stage in the Congress Center, in the Frankfurt Studio, in the Frankfurt Pavilion and, during the evening, at BOOKFEST city events throughout Frankfurt.

For the Saturday of the fair, 21 October at 7 p.m., Frankfurter Buchmesse, ARD, ZDF and 3sat invite you to one of the highlights of the book fair days: the "Frankfurter Buchmesse special: Literature Gala". The event offers culture and literature fans the exclusive opportunity to experience hearing the award-winning British-Indian author Salman Rushdie live.

Publishers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have until 5 May 2023 to apply to Italy’s cultural institutes for grants to translate titles that will be published in conjunction with Italy’s appearance as Guest of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024.
