"17,000 Islands of Imagination" was the slogan of the Guest of Honour 2015. The international book exhibition "Books on Indonesia" featured some 850 translations of titles from and to the Indonesian from 180 publishers and 30 countries. Indonesian publishers were present at the fair with a 340-square-meter collective stand in Hall 4.0 as well as with events related to children’s books, comic books, art/design, education and gourmet living.

In 2022, BOOKFEST will once again present a programme full of literature, inspiration and compelling encounters. The literature festival will offer more than 60 events featuring authors, poets, translators, illustrators and moderators at more than 20 different locations throughout Frankfurt. Over 20 publishing houses and 9 booksellers and cultural institutions will participate in the programme.

On the last day of Frankfurter Buchmesse 2025 the Philippines handed over the GuestScroll to Czechia.

Today at 5 p.m. (MESZ), Mr. Juergen Boos, the President and CEO of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, will be honoured with the Vigdís Prize 2022 – an international award for outstanding contributions to world languages and cultures.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2016 - a truly European Fair

Slovenia is the Guest of Honour of the 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse (18-22 October 2023). On 15th June 2023, Slovenia presented its literary and cultural programme, the concept of the Guest of Honour Pavilion and the list of authors who will be attending the fair at a press conference in Frankfurt. The director of the Slovenian Book Agency JAK, Katja Stergar, the architect Jure Sadar and the curators Matthias Göritz, Miha Kovač and Amalija Maček provided insights into the different themes.

Thanks to an alliance of numerous institutions, Ukraine will once again have a sizeable presence at Frankfurter Buchmesse. From 18 to 22 October 2023, the Ukrainian Book Institute, Goethe-Institut, Mystetskyi Arsenal (Art Arsenal) and the Ukrainian Institute will showcase Ukraine’s publishing and cultural landscape at the book fair in Frankfurt.

The Philippines unveiled the full scope of its Guest of Honour (PhlGoH) program for the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2025 during a press conference in Frankfurt today, positioning the archipelago as a rising force in global publishing.

“The number of visitors exceeded our expectations. After two reduced versions in 2020 and 2021, the 74th Frankfurter Buchmesse was finally able to take place in person once again. With approximately 90,000 trade visitors from over 100 countries, we view the trade visitor days as a success,” says Juergen Boos, Director of Frankfurter Buchmesse.
