Imagining the future and the human being is a real challenge in our present 21st century which seems to offer few alternatives from a historical and social point of view, but it moves forward in leaps and bounds in the technological realm. An equally important challenge is how to narrate these futures, how to infuse them with a language that necessarily has to be different.  In a dialogue with Katja Deiß, the author Anja Kümmel allows us to discern how  some of her suggestive books such as “Dreams of digital Sleepers” (“Träume digitaler Schläfer, 2012) or “V or the fourth wall” (“V oder die vierte Wand, 2016) not only connect with the tradition of the genre but also extend the limits of the very concept of Science Fiction.
