Jeepney Journey: From Manila to the Main

Frankfurt City Marketing and Frankfurter Buchmesse are once again implementing a joint project during the fair. The “Jeepney Journey” brings culture, encounters, and atmosphere to the heart of the city, in collaboration with the Guest of Honour of Frankfurter Buchmesse 2025 – the Philippines.

From 13 to 18 October, experience a piece of Filipino culture in the heart of Frankfurt: the guest of honour at #fbm25 is bringing an original jeepney, a cultural icon of the archipelago, to Roßmarkt! Once there, the converted jeep will be transformed into a multifaceted stage – with workshops, music, hands-on activities and culinary experiences.

Centre Stage: the new location for contemporary topics

One focus of the new Centre Stage in Hall 4.1 is Frankfurt Calling, the cultural and political programme of Frankfurter Buchmesse and its partners. Speakers include Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Dr Eckart von Hirschhausen and cultural scientist and rapper Dr Reyhan Şahin (Lady Bitch Ray).

New Location: Festhalle

This year, the Festhalle is a wind-and-weatherproof attraction for the fair’s visitors. In the new, even larger "Meet the Author" area, Bianca Iosivoni, Stella Tack, Nena Tramountani, Maren Vivien Haase, Ayla Dade, Julia Dippel, Ava Reed and Kyra Groh will be signing books. International authors include V. E. Schwab, Cassandra Clare, Mercedes Ron and Abby Jimenez.

New at Frankfurter Buchmesse: On 17 October (10 a.m.–4 p.m.), bookcareers founder, publishing expert, and career coach Suzanne Collier will share her expertise in 15-minute consultation sessions. Please note: The consultations will be held in English and take place in the Fragment conference room (Hall 3, Via West).

Innovation Stage in Hall 4.0 with Friday Innovation Talks

On the Innovation Stage powered by Digital Science in Hall 4.0 (Stand H106), Frankfurter Buchmesse brings together its events on international topics of the future, in collaboration with exhibitors and partners such as the Society for Scholarly Publishing and the Charleston Conference. AI, open access and freedom of research and publication are some of the highlighted topics here. New this year are the Friday Innovation Talks, powered by Frankfurter Buchmesse, Bookwire and Pondus, followed by a get-together (17 Oct. 2025, 2.30 to 5.00 pm).

PublisHer: Women Shaping Publishing

The international network PublisHer will be represented at this year’s fair with its own stand (4.1 C28) and a stage programme. The lounge at the stand invites visitors to network as well as take part in mentoring sessions. Plus, there will be talks on the topic of female empowerment and gender equality in the publishing industry.

Publishers Without Borders presents: 2025 Frankfurter Buchmesse Kickoff Run - Runners, helpers and cheerers wanted!

The race is on! Frankfurter Buchmesse Kickoff Run

The Kick-off Run is back – organised by the international network Publishers Without Borders in cooperation with Frankfurter Buchmesse. On the Sunday before the book fair, exhibitors and trade visitors will meet for a 5km run along the Main River. If you would like to run, help or cheer, please register in advance by email; places are limited: servicecenter@buchmesse.de.

For anyone who wants to gain insight into the dynamic transformation of the audio market driven by AI tools, the new, free white paper by audio expert Javier Celaya (Dosdoce.com) and Frankfurter Buchmesse offers an in-depth analysis of the key challenges and opportunities facing the audiobook market. Published on 8 September 2025.

Showroom „Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026“

In the foyer of Hall 4.1, Frankfurter Buchmesse is opening a showroom that offers a glimpse into the future:For the first time, central elements of the new hall layout will be presented, designed to offer a more clearly structured, accessible, and immersive FBM from 2026 onwards. The plans will be brought to life through large-format visuals and a video.

The offer is primarily aimed at exhibitors and trade visitors. However, the public is also invited to take a look at the future development of Frankfurter Buchmesse. The aim is to provide orientation, create transparency and, together with partners, exhibitors and the public, make Frankfurter Buchmesse fit for the future.
Exhibitors will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on site.
