Paving the Way for the Future: Responsibility in Children’s Book Publishing
The focus was on the topic of ‘responsibility’ that publishing books for children and young adults entails. Which stories need to be told that will foster respect and mutual understanding? How do we communicate the values that are important in order to better understand the world around us?
How do we promote access to books and what concepts are there to support children with stories, even in crisis situations?
International experts discussed these questions in three panels. At the end of the conference, moderated breakout sessions Sustainability, Accessibility/Disability, POC/Diversity and Creator's Responsibility offered the opportunity to discuss topics more in depth.
The conference was moderated by award-winning author and translator Lawrence Schimel, Bestselling author Cornelia Funke joined us virtually for the Keynote.
